Westport

After *attempting* to climb St. Pat's good ol' mountain, we checked into our B&B, freshened up, then hit the streets of Westport. Our stay in Westport was only a day, that we wished had been two. We originally planned to stay for two days, but nixed it down to one. It was lovely! We walked up and down the streets, then headed down to the Quay for dinner.
I found a perfect Primary school for Lola. Always on the look-out.
An awesome butcher.
Fantastically talented photographer.
City center.

St. Mary's Church

And now a word about our stay at Woodside B&B...

Upon arrival, we were greeted by our lovely hostess Helen. We were a bit early, but she was incredibly accommodating and gave us the first room she had ready. While she apologized the room upstairs with the King sized bed she had reserved for us wasn't yet prepped, we were thankful the room she had for us was on the first floor, thus requiring us to simply roll our luggage to our room, rather than haul it up the stairs! The room was incredibly spacious and the bathroom was light and updated. Great accommodations.

But it was more than just accommodations. We instantly felt at HOME with Helen--like we were staying with a good family friend. I had gone out to ask her for an alarm clock for the next morning and ended up sitting and chatting with her at her kitchen island for over an hour! Upon entrance to her B&B, you felt like you were walking into someone's house. And in the front hall was a beautiful piece of framed words that John was very taken with. Helen told us that it was something special that belonged to her father--that it had always meant alot to her. She knew just how much John was impressed with it, that just before she sent us on our way the next morning, she gave him a wrapped gift and told him to open it later. Well, of course we couldn't wait and opened it in the car. It was a copy of this beautiful piece. We're so glad we did because he went right back in to thank her. There are such generous and kind people in this world.

Helen's Full Irish Breakfast was AH-MA-ZING!
Helen, the one I've been raving about!
